5/15/2009 Uncle John passes away in Cocoa Beach, FL, just a little over a month after his 85th birthday.

12/25/2008 Christmas this year was at Leslie's new house, near downtown Marietta. Everyone including the Waugamans was there except Dan.

11/27/2008 Thanksgiving at the Johnson farm. Cousin Julie hosted this year and videotaped a short interview with everyone who was there.

7/11/2008 David and Diane celebrate their 10th anniversary with a party at the home of sister Cheryl Murphy where they were married.
Also cousin Patty and husband Andy Durham renewed their vows at their 20th anniversary celebration in Florida.
7/1/2008 Cousin Juli Leonard marries Cliff Denney.

We gathered for Mom's weekend at Franklin D Roosevelt State Park. Played golf and went to the zoo!

Don and Beth celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary.
Thanksgiving at the Johnson's Farm was kind of special this year. Every one uf us Leonards was there except the hard-working Hannah.

Mom's weekend was at Florence Marina State Park and everyone made it this time. We all took a hike to see nearby Providence Canyon State Park and ate dinner in Eufala, AL.

Aunt Mary got married to Jerry Brown in Ocala on March 10. Now the Jerry Leonard children have their own "Uncle Jerry!"

Dad has finally recovered from his surgery and seems to be healthy. He is now on prescription nitro for his heart.
David got the results of his EBT heart scan back. Although there is some blockage in one of his heart vessels, he's considered to be in the 80th percentile of men his age.
Mom's weekend was planned by Leslie this year. We had a great time at Seminole State Park, near Donalsonville, GA.

November 2005
We enjoyed another Thanksgiving at the Johnson Farm. There are the beginnings of some big plans for the property this year.
Dad was diagnosed with an aortic aneurism that will require surgery. He is scheduled for the operation for December 1, the Thursday after Thanksgiving.
Cousin Laura Munro underwent surgery for cancer in her lymph nodes. The surgery was successful and Laura is now in recovery at home.

Our family get together was in Rutledge Georgia this year at Hard Labor Creek State Park.

David & Diane went to Hawaii with Richard and Jill for vacation. It was Richard and Jill's 25th anniversary trip. Pics should be up sometime soon. There are just so many!

At Thanksgiving time, Leslie introduced a new game, called "Succotash" or something like it. Whatever it's called, ask us about it and we'll show you the ropes! It's a blast!

Jaiden turns 1 year old on November 8. The party was at the Staffords' home. Richard and Jill took the pix..

Mom's weekend was at Cloudland Canyon State Park. We host this time.
Mom & Dad take RV trip to the midwest. It's unusually cold and they pretty much freeze in Michigan for the tulip festival.

Dad is diagnosed with diabetes. It is controllable with diet and exercise.

11/8/2003 Jaiden is born to Melissa and boyfriend Peary Stafford.

11/10/2003 Grant passed away suddenly today. In 1996 he had an aneurism. The operation was difficult and dangerous. In recovery he went into a coma and suffered a stroke. It was a miracle that he even survived. He never gave in to his difficulties and touched the lives of many with his wit, compassion and deep love for life. It is a deep loss for our entire family, and he will be missed but never forgotten in our hearts.

Melissa graduated from high school on July 2. All of Richard's kids are now adults!

We got together in Eufaula Alabama at Lakepoint State Park for a late Mothers Day reunion. Everyone was there except Hannah. Grant graduated from high school and Leslie graduated from UGA. She's going to Johns Hopkins in the fall. Melissa is expecting a child in October and this weekend she shared with us that it will be a girl! Hannah and Beth returned from Paraguay and Kiki can't wait until she's old enough to go on a mission trip, too.

2/2/2003 Uncle James (Mary's husband) passed away from an enlarged heart. He had been weak for a long time, but through it all, he had a good outlook and enjoyed living. A sweet soul who will be missed.

12/25/2002 Christmas in Tallahassee this year.  Dad will soon undergo prostate surgery.  Leslie is looking at going to John Hopkins University.

4/3/2002 Diane undergoes surgery to correct a rectal prolapse.  It's abdominal surgery, so it took a week in the hospital, then another two weeks out of work for recovery.

Don gets lasik surgery.  No need for eyeglasses in the morning any more!
Beth gets a severe kidney infection.

11/22/2001 Thanksgiving at Uncle Don & Aunt June's farm.  This year Josh & Amy Barineau had their first child - Nicholas.  It is Aunt Nell & Uncle Maurice's first great grand baby!  (The connection is:  Nell/Maurice Barineau -> Brenda/Phil Selfe-> Josh/Amy Selfe -> Nicholas Selfe.

8/22/2001 Close call for Grant.  He almost chokes to death at a restaurant eating dinner with the family.  Luckily there were not one, but two doctors present - one of them was a cardiologist.  They were able to keep his breathing open until the paramedics arrived.  He was in intensive care for a few days.

Brother Richard (R) poses with his golfing buddies on his trip to Scotland.  All they did was play golf, eat, play golf, sleep, and dream about playing golf.

July 31, 2001: Our Aunt Jean Leonard passed away.  She was a beautiful spirit with a quick wit and winning smile.

The memorial service featured a table with many pictures from Aunt Jean's life.  In this one, she is between daughters Jenny and Shelly.

The nametags were Jean's idea so that her many friends from church could more easily know who her children were.  Norris' nametag pretty much says it all - "Her children arise and call her beloved."

Leonard Mother's Day Weekend at Red Top Mountain State Park.
News:
Grant recently had a pretty major seizure.  Jill was awakened in the middle of the night by the sound of bells.  She ignored it at first, but when it woke her up the second time, she decided to get up and check on Grant.  He wasn't responding.  They rushed him to the emergency room and he is now on medication to control the seizures.  Angels were watching out for him that night!
Melissa is now driving!
Leslie is going to Italy this summer as part of her art curriculum.
Dad recently had surgery on his eyes.  He now sees better than ever.
Mom is now officially retired - almost.  She sometimes answers the phone for Dad's tax service, which makes him sound so professional that it brings in even more clients - making it that much harder for HIM to retire!
Don & Beth are selling their house and moving to the Roswell area.  They have a contract on a house in an older established neighborhood not too far from us!
